SAT’s stands for 'Standard Assessment Tests' and are also known as 'End of Key Stage Assessments' or 'Statutory Assessments'. Children sit SATS exams throughout their school life at the ages of 7 (Year 2), 11 (Year 6), and 14 (Year 9).

All Year 6 pupils, aged 10-11 in England are required to sit standard tests in the core subjects of Maths, Science and English. There are two or three test papers per day, spread over the week beginning 14th May (typically).

Children do not pass or fail National Curriculum Tests at Key Stages 1, 2 or 3. They are designed to help teachers assess pupils' strengths and weaknesses and determine what pupils understand about a subject; how much of the curriculum they understand now and what they might achieve in the future.
